Nitrogen release and uptake and native plant performance

The researchers were looking at nitrogen release and uptake and native plant performance in porous granite subsoils with and without inoculation with MycoApply®.
Figure 3 on page 90 illustrates the significant increase in root and shoot biomass with MycoApply® inoculation. Shoot biomass was tripled.
Figure 4 on page 91 illustrates the significant increase in root and shoot Nitrogen content. Total nitrogen in shoots was roughly 5 times higher in MycoApply® treated plants.
Figure 5 on page 91 illustrates close relationship between nitrogen content and grass performance in these porous soils over time. Again the MycoApply inoculated plants are way above the non-inoculated plants.
Under less than ideal soil conditions the mycorrhizal relationship makes a huge difference in terms of nitrogen nutrition, shoot and root growth. This has big implications for limiting off-site movement of nitrogen and getting plants established in rigorous field conditions. More...
